What is happening with our shooting location Boeng Kak Lake?
People also call it "Oasis of Silence" - the Boeng Kak Lake in the heart of Phnom Penh.
About 10 months ago it has been one of our shootin locations in Phnom Penh, but now it changes and if you are going to Phnom Penh the lake likely won`t be there anymore. Jan Müller, our man in Cambodia shows you in a clip the recent developments.
There is no hurry in Africa.
Have you ever been on a backpacker holiday?
Being inspired by Benjamin Prüfer and also interested in a little adventure we went to South Africa for checking out this backpacker thing.
We travelled and worked in South Africa so that we dare to say that we got to know a little about living in South Africa.
Our first impression of the hostel in Durban was: no luxury (even for a hostel) but a special, almost magic atmosphere. The African people were open minded and special. In the beginning their caring attitude towards “strangers” can be confusing, but after an adaptation-phase we enjoyed it. People on the street share your enthusiasm about a local football club and give you helpful advise about things and places to avoid.

Cinema Fromage- A Cambodian night in Rögnitz
Recently a special event occurred in a little village, called Rögnitz, situated in Mecklenburg- Vorpommern.
In this village, Martin Rohrbeck, (Line producer) occasionally runs a little cinema in the old firestation. Martin’s wife, Ute Rohrbeck manufactures handmade goat cheese and that’s why they regularly show a short documentary of the process of the cheese production. Therefore the cinema is called: CINEMA FROMAGE – Germany’s first cheese cinema. But there are also lots of other events taking place, such as “the long night of short movies” or a few days ago: “Same Same But Different – a Cambodian night”. An evening with the trailer, clips from the movie and with lots of different pictures, showing the shooting of the movie in Cambodia. Everything commented by the host of the evening, Martin Rohrbeck. The Cinema Fromage does not only offer great movies, but the food and drinks play an important role too. Therefore the round about 40 guests had the chance to enjoy a great Asian buffet with a variation of different cocktails. The crowd was amazed and agreed on coming back next summer to watch the hole movie open air, with space for 100 people!
Soon on the blog: Videoimpressions of the evening and the CINEMA FROMAGE
Project Cambodia – urgent!
Stefan Konarske isn’t just a busy actor, he also dedicates lot’s of his time to get a project started that he initiated himself.
He plans to help a small Buddhist village in which street children found a shelter. Their parent’s death was caused by HIV or mine explosions. This small village, which offers children an education as well as an accommodation, does not belong to an organisation. The kids are fed by tourists.
For a while the roofs of the little houses are leaking so that school has to be intermitted during the rainy season and the floors of the sleeping rooms are rotting.
It is more than necessary to get the houses fixed, but the money of the tourists doesn’t even cover the every day needs.
Stefan wants to collect money to buy building materials. He plans to get the houses fixed in the end of 2009 with the work of the children and the villagers and the monetary help of you and me. Please help, time is short!
