Education is important- Help Cambodian Children!

Cambodia's Children Education Fund , a non-profit organization, provides scholarships to impoverished and orphaned Cambodian students for attendance at exceptional schools. By providing educational opportunities to students who otherwise cannot go to school, CCEdFund is rebuilding a professional class of leaders. After completing school, the students contribute to the peaceful social, economic, and political development of Cambodia by working in the public interest for at least two years. Believing that providing educational opportunities is one of the best ways to help people, CCEdFund is helping to rebuild what was destroyed in Cambodia's recent violent past.

Cinema Fromage- A Cambodian night in Rögnitz

Recently a special event occurred in a little village, called Rögnitz, situated in Mecklenburg- Vorpommern.
In this village, Martin Rohrbeck, (Line producer) occasionally runs a little cinema in the old firestation. Martin’s wife, Ute Rohrbeck manufactures handmade goat cheese and that’s why they regularly show a short documentary of the process of the cheese production. Therefore the cinema is called: CINEMA FROMAGE – Germany’s first cheese cinema. But there are also lots of other events taking place, such as “the long night of short movies” or a few days ago: “Same Same But Different – a Cambodian night”. An evening with the trailer, clips from the movie and with lots of different pictures, showing the shooting of the movie in Cambodia. Everything commented by the host of the evening, Martin Rohrbeck. The Cinema Fromage does not only offer great movies, but the food and drinks play an important role too. Therefore the round about 40 guests had the chance to enjoy a great Asian buffet with a variation of different cocktails. The crowd was amazed and agreed on coming back next summer to watch the hole movie open air, with space for 100 people!

Soon on the blog: Videoimpressions of the evening and the CINEMA FROMAGE

Project Cambodia – urgent!

Stefan Konarske isn’t just a busy actor, he also dedicates lot’s of his time to get a project started that he initiated himself.
He plans to help a small Buddhist village in which street children found a shelter. Their parent’s death was caused by HIV or mine explosions. This small village, which offers children an education as well as an accommodation, does not belong to an organisation. The kids are fed by tourists.
For a while the roofs of the little houses are leaking so that school has to be intermitted during the rainy season and the floors of the sleeping rooms are rotting.
It is more than necessary to get the houses fixed, but the money of the tourists doesn’t even cover the every day needs.
Stefan wants to collect money to buy building materials. He plans to get the houses fixed in the end of 2009 with the work of the children and the villagers and the monetary help of you and me. Please help, time is short!

For a new flourishing film industry- Opening of the Cambodian Film Commission

The opening of the Cambodian Film Commission (CFC) last week was a true gala, with film stars mixing with ministers, ambassadors and filmmakers.
The CFC aim is to make filming in Cambodia as straight-forward process as possible. The Cambodia Film Commission is a non-profit organization dedicated to the film professionals . "The CFC will help build the film infrastructure necessary for the industry to flourish", said Eloy the CFC project manager. The first aim of the CFC is to train highly professional film crews to international industry standards."Secondly, it will attract foreign film crews to Cambodia, hosting them and helping them find the right people to set up their project," he said. The third goal is to help authorities facilitate the shooting and involve all the relevant ministries.
Ministry of Fine Arts and Culture Secretary of State Chuch Phoeurn said the CFC had been set up to attract more filmmakers, both local and international, to invest in film in Cambodia."We made the film commission to prevent problems happening in our film sector," he said.

Full moon

Bonjour Cambodge. Welcome to our program: Loveline
Babelsberg branch of samesameblog.tv just settled in. A 10 minutes walk from Studio Babelsberg, at the moment housing the Weinstein Production of “Inglorious Bastards” by Quentin Tarrantino. A cinematographic journey all the same. The studio invited Loveline to the set of the final scene involving a lot of inhouse fireworks. Sounds like a hell lot of fun. Hopefully shooting schedules meet so we are able to cover that one also.
