In Cambodia you are just what you really are and what is inside of you

Today it is Jan Müllers turn to tell us his experiences about life in Cambodia. He lives there for already three years! But check it out by yourself:

Tells us about your experiences shooting in Cambodia!

Cambodia and Germany
What is SAME SAME?
What is DIFFERENT?

SameSame is that one is casting hundreds of people for the same lead role; different is that literally nobody fits to the requirements and skills for this job.
SameSame is that I enjoy life in both countries; different is that almost everybody else around me in Cambodia enjoys life as well....
SameSame is that I drink as much beer like in Germany; different is that in Cambodia I add ice cubes and Red Bull into my beer (which would be a blasphemic act in Bavaria, where I grew up)

Shooting in Cambodia is comparable to…

...having a flashback into former times, when people really knew what they are doing when working on a production (seen from my point of view as a long time expat in Cambodia, where this is not the fact at all...)

What was the most bizarre thing that happened to you?

Seeing Buck and his team coming to Cambodia and filming a story which actually could had happened to me as well in the same way... and watching the team members running one by one to a local designer shop and spending thousands of dollars for stylish designer suits...

Marc into the heart of dark

I have seen the future!
On my travels to the end of the road into the jungles of north eastern Cambodia – formerly the area where Col Kurtz in Apocalypse Now reigned in his Inner Station over his hill tribe army in a lawless campaign that echoed Joseph Conrad’s modern classic parable on the savage and bloodthirsty European colonialism of the 1890s in the Belgian Congo – I found myself amidst a tribal people shattered by the repercussions of what is generally referred to as “sustainable development”.

Shooting in Cambodia = Have fun with friends!

This weekend Samy, the french cambodian location manager, describes his feelings and his expirience while shooting the movie "Same Same but Different".

Tells us about your experiences shooting in Cambodia!
It was a great and rich experience both human level than professional. Having grown in France with western habits, I was sometimes confused by khmer habits but in finale result is often positive. I seldom met people so kindness and helpfulness than Khmers. A great thank to Bophana Team especially to Mr Sovicha.

Cambodia and Germany- What is SAME SAME?
What is DIFFERENT?

Don’t know I was not in Germany !!!
Different : I suppose Tine didn’t count Mouy, Pi, Bey in Germany but Ein, Zwein, Drei...;o)

Shooting in Cambodia is comparable to…
Have fun with friends.

Kiss all of you

"Phnom Penh...one of the most relaxing metropolis of the world"

Guide to the Cambodia Galaxy

Starting from today, each sunday one member of the crew&cast will describe his or her experience within the last three months and give you some recommendations for your next trip to Cambodia. STEFAN KONARSKE, who plays ED starts today:

Cambodia & Germany

What is SAME SAME?
Nothing.
What is DIFFERENT?
Weather and mentality
Shooting in Cambodia is comparable to…
a totally different life experience for two months. Thanks to Boje Buck that I could join!
What influence did the time in Cambodia have on you?
Now I start to think in another way about life: Which meaning has my job to me? I want to GIVE, next to my job or even instead of doing totally different things, which have a different value than being on the stage or acting in front of the camera such as the school project, which I would like to realize but due to my injury it has to be postponed until December 2009.

Cambodian Winter

Threats and Relativity

A fresh wind blows, the flags flutter at the top of their poles at the Riverside. Over night the temperatures have dropped to an all time low. At least it seems like that. Early in the morning one can see a shady haze on the river confluence in front of the Royal Palace.

People wear big woolen shawls and flurry hats. Some Motodop drivers wear gloves, others put on big fluffy socks with their flip flops. Winter has arrived and everybody acts as if an arctic storm has taken hold of the city. "Uhhhhhhiii, me so colda!" The tuktuk drivers ask for extra money for longer distances, not because it is far, but because it is too cold...

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas from Phnom Penh to all our families and friends!
A huge illuminated christmas tree on the Hotel-Front is the local Christmas Decoration.
Eventhough the Khmer are traditionaly Buddhists - not Christians - they are always happy if there's something to celebrate. Especially in Asia they say: "One must celebrate, when one has the chance".
In this sense: Have yourself a merry little Christmas!
